Simon Dyson says he is hopeful of producing a strong performance at the WGC-CA Championship as the Englishman (150/1 to win the tournament) continues his preparations for The Masters.
The 32-year-old secured his place at Augusta last year with wins in Holland and most memorably at the St Andrews in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to cap what was an impressive season for the 32-year-old.
While Dyson (50/1 to be the top European at Doral) has made a sluggish start to 2010, slipping out of the top 50, but this week’s second event in the World Golf Championship looks to be the perfect opportunity for the Brit to make a name for himself.
Dyson will be looking for a better performance than the one he put in at the Accenture Match Play Championship when he went out in the first round as he looks to secure further invites to PGA Tour events in the build-up to the Masters.
“I’m used to playing a lot and I’d like to be in all four before Augusta,” said Dyson.
“I don’t feel I’ve really had a run and got into the season yet. I had the three in a row in the Middle East, but I’m sick of the stop-start since then.”
Dyson is part of a strong field taking to the course in Florida with the only big name absentees being Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa and of course world number one Tiger Woods.
Phil Mickelson (9/4 to top the PGA Money List without Woods) will be looking to defend the crown he won 12 months ago while Ian Poulter will be looking to make back-to-back wins on the WGC circuit.
Paul Casey (22/1 to be first round leader), Lee Westwood (28/1) and Ross Fisher (40/1) will also be looking to challenge for top honours as they complete a strong English line-up.
