Rickie Fowler’s third round 69 moved him to 16 under and maintained his three-shot lead with Sunday’s final round remaining at the Memorial Tournament (Fowler 4/7 Tournament In-Play) in Ohio.
The 21-year-old starlet continued his amazing run of form by extending his bogey-free streak to 52 holes during the third round which was interrupted by storms. He will now aim to continue that going into Sunday’s play (Fowler 6/4 17.45 Fowler/Barnes/Petrovic 4th Round 3 Balls) to wrap up the title.
“I’m hitting the ball well,” said Fowler.
“I kept it out of trouble, and I knew opportunities were coming around. It was a matter of waiting for them.
“I want to win against the best. That doesn’t change the way I play.”
Englishman Justin Rose slipped four shots off the pace after he dropped shots at the 15th and 16th, but Ricky Barnes, who hit an impressive 62, and Tim Petrovic are keeping the pressure on Fowler in a share of second place. Rory McIlroy moved to eight-under, with Tiger Woods two shots further back.
