Els 8509653 300x213 Els upbeat over AugustaErnie Els (20/1 in the Masters outright w/o Woods market) says his victory at Doral will give him “a lot of positives” for next month’s first major championship of 2010.

The 40-year-old picked up his first tournament victory for two years, with a four-shot victory over fellow South African Charl Schwartzel in the WGC-CA Championship.
That victory has lifted Els to eight in the world rankings and is the perfect boost for his chances of a good showing at the Masters – which starts on April 8.

The three-time major winner, currently 6/1 with Betfred to top the PGA Tour money list this season, is in upbeat mood ahead of his trip to Augusta.

Els admitted: “I’m 40 years old now, I’ve had a tough run but I feel my game is in good shape. I’ve got to take a lot of positives from this heading into the Masters next month.”

The ‘Big Easy’ has never won the Green Jacket but has twice been a runner up at Augusta, in both 2000 and 2004, although Els has missed the cut in the last three years.
