Johnnie Walker Classic Winners

In a surprising end to the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic, amateur Danny Lee won the tournament at the tender age of 18. Lee became the first amateur player to win the event since Tiger Woods.
New Zealand’s Mark Brown claimed his first Johnnie Walker Classic title in 2008, Brown also took home a tidy US$409,743 in prize money.

Kevin Stadler became the first sponsored invitation player ever to win the Johnnie Walker Classic, in Australia in 2006. In 2005, current world number 3 Adam Scott added his name to the list of Johnnie Walker Classic winners when he took the title in Beijing.
Repeat Johnnie Walker Classic winners
A total of three players have won the Johnnie Walker Classic twice – Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, and Nick Faldo.
US star Tiger Woods, number 1 in the World Golf Rankings for a phenomenal record total of 264 consecutive weeks, won in Phuket in 1998 and in Bangkok in 2000.
South African Ernie Els, ranked as world number 5, won the Johnnie Walker Classic twice, both times in Australia, in 1997 and in 2003. Of all Johnnie Walker Classic winners, Ernie Els has broken the most records in the tournament.
England’s Nick Faldo won the first ever Johnnie Walker Classic, in Hong Kong in 1990. He went on to win again in Singapore, in 1993.
South African golfers have figured high in the Johnnie Walker Classic. As well as two-time winner Ernie Els, South Africans Ian Palmer, Retief Goosen and – most recently – Anton Haig have won the tournament. In the 2007 Johnnie Walker Classic, five South Africans had scores putting them in the top 10. As well as winner Anton Haig, these included Richard Sterne, Retief Goosen, Ernie Els and David Frost.
